Title: Time After Time
Fandom: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Rating: G
Summary: Cameron and John discuss the future.

"I'm just saying that while we were hanging out in that bank vault it probably wouldn't have hurt to grab some cash," John Connor grinned ruefully over his fifth turkey sandwich that week.

"That wouldn't have been advisable. Obtaining money would have slowed us down. We wouldn't have been able to access the device in time," Cameron stated barely above a monotone as she cleaned one of her guns.

"Time... I feel like I have a lot of that these days," John sighed.

"No. You actually have much less," Cameron pointed out the truth ruthlessly.

John chewed over that as he took a bite from his sandwich. "And what about you?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean how long before you're born or created or whatever. Before we meet... in the future."

"I was created on May 26, 2024." The cyborg didn't look up from her work, just examined the black barrel as she went over it with a washcloth.

"Was it weird when I met you? Since I already knew who you were and all that."

"No. It wasn't 'weird.'" Cameron paused and then turned her cold, human-like eyes to look at John. "But you said it was 'weird' when you met your father."

"My father?" John's eyes widened. All he knew about Kyle Reese was what is mother had told him, and she'd only known him a few days before he was killed. "Do you know when... I mean what day do I meet him?"

"I don't know," Cameron turned back to her work, her expression disinterested. "He'd already been sent back before I was made."

"Oh," John sighed, a bit disappointed. Just when he thought a bit of his past, his future really, was coming into focus and it was snatched away again. "Well what was it like when we met?"

"I cannot reveal that information," Cameron muttered, finishing with her work with a final swipe.

John slumped down in defeat. "Story of my life, huh?"

Cameron rose to return her weapon to its cabinet. As she reached the kitchen door she turned back. "When we met you told me 'You are just as beautiful as I remember.'" She slipped out the door, leaving John to finish his lunch.

Mankind's greatest hope took another bit of his sandwich and grinned with his humor restored. "Well at least I know what line to use on her when I see her then."
