I think Gina's betrail was kind of the last drop on Helena's mental health. Her beating Gina was a coaping mechanism, trying to beat the feelings she had/has for her away. Which simply didn't work.
But to me it was also VERY interesting as to WHY Cain did not kill Gina. 'Information' Well she's been in your cell for a good time and she's not given you anything and I highly doubt she ever will.
She came regularly to the brig, to watch her. It's like eventhough Gina is a Cylon and she betrayed Cain, cain is not ready to accept that. Shes kind of still clinging to that last bit of, well the memory of their relationship. If she really didn't care she would have airlocked Gina ages ago. But thereby she would have erased every trace of her idea of the 'normal life' she had with her. And I feel like she didn't want to give that up. And her beating Gina was also the thing that kept her 'sane'. Kept her connected to the 'here and now'. I don't know its just how I feel :)
Yeah I needed something, happy and very meaningful. Which lead to the marry thing. I'm not sure though if that would actually have happened. But It would have been a nice idea :)
