So WHO announced today that the ol' swine flu could infect 2 billion people worldwide.
Seems to me like a desperate ploy to try to still grab the attention of national media on something that sure isn't seeming all that dangerous after all. I mean, think about it -- regular flu takes 36,000 American lives every year. That's almost 100 per DAY. This swine flu is what, 2? And that's over a period of a few weeks already? C'mon, when you put it in perspective like that, swine flu's like the retarded cousin of regular flu.
Of course, I'm kind of glad it's not the same as regular flu, too. If we had 100 people per day dropping dead from swine flu, we'd have rioting in the streets! And yet, it's simply on par with the regular flu that we've all learned to love...
I've learned something today. "WHO" isn't pronounced "hoo" or "double-you-aych-oh" or anything like that. It's probably pronounced "woooo", as in the noise you hear when you go to a haunted house. "woooo, swine flu's gonna infect 1/3 the world! Beware!! Woooooo!"
I'll believe it when I see it.
