::holds out hand, taking bag with thumb and middle finger, keeping it out at arm's length::

Do I wanna know or not...?

::looks at Crewman Little::

well, it has a PADD inside with what looks like a personal log, so that should have some information of where she has been and what she did. And it has a med kit in there too. Some snack bars. There's bound to be something in the bag she was carrying that would tell us where she was and you could then tell the captain what you learned of where she was. He's bound to want to know, Phlox probably would like to know too and maybe what's in the bag will tell you where she was.

Sir.

::peels open the bag, peering in... sees pretty much what Little described... huh::

::raises one eyebrow to Little::

Crewman, you ever considered security work? Ad hoc?

Reply

namon_little January 26 2005, 06:25:24 UTC
Ad hoc? sir? *never having heard the term before*

If working with security means I got to see you report to you once a day, I'd love to work for it. Its not as if anyone ever notices me in my other work. I mean, I can work right beside someone every day for months and they won't ever notice me. They'll pass by me as if they don't see me, talk near me about everything going on in their lives and not care that I hear. Its like I become invisible.

::huh::

::puffs a little bit before dumping the contents of the bag onto a table::

Well... as you may have noticed, this department seems to be... shorthanded.

::smirks to self, sifting through the items... yep, could be useful::

I mean... couldn't use you as a full-blown security officer but... yer little report to me was more helpful and well-thought out than most of those I get from my own men. Maybe we could use you in an... investigatory capacity. Ad hoc.

Oh, sorry... that's meanin' temporarily, or as needed. And, well... yer needed.

::smiles charmingly::

*swoons*

I'd love to, just name it. What would you like me to do sir?

::ha, this is kinda nice... someone is appreciatin' for a change::

Well, Crewman... I wish it was that simple but... well, we've got a small complication that just... dropped in on us, as it were, so... I can't make any decisions like that just yet. But I can talk to the Captain if we ever get him outta quarters again, here we go. And I can make a formal request ready for the much-anticipated return of Commander Reed, so's he can make a final decision if I am to be...

... replaced. ::frowns just a tad::

However...

::thinks::

Miss Little... ::drapes an arm around her, professionally, of course... guiding her a few steps:: I've been thinking about what this ship seems to need, security-wise. And what it needs...

::stops, looks around::

... is dedication, perserverence, and the ability to read between lines at the right moment. ::looks at her directly, pondering ( ... )

you mean, you'd let me see what the things I found say on where Ensign Cutler ran off to? *awed*

Anything I could do to prove myself to you, I'll do. I'll report directly to you and no one else on things you want to know. I'm sure you'll share anything needing to be shared with Commander Reed.

I'll do what I can to excel at the placement test, sir. *enthusiastically, so happy to have Foster's arm around her*

::smiles charmingly::

Very good, Crewman. I'll have a look-see... you know, to make sure there isn't anything critical you shouldn't have access to -- have to be careful of those things, you know -- then... I'll give you a 24-hour access to it. Let you do yer best.

::lets go of her, standing to the side, hand on her shoulder::

I think we may be able to work something out. Quality-minded people are a lit-tle hard to come by on this boat sometimes-- er, question. ::frowns:: Does the word 'elephant' mean anything in particular to you?

Reply

namon_little January 26 2005, 07:40:19 UTC
its an animal found in Africa and India, very big, has a trunk and a tail. The one in Africa has big ears, the one in India small. Um, however I know a group of people were talking a lot lately about the elephant, mentioned getting dressed in nightwear, replicating snacks even though what we do is resequence them, sounded like a small party. Said any crewman could go, but I know the captain forbade parties of any kind, so I didn't go.

Any time I tried to get to you to tell you about it, other people were around you and I didn't know how to get you alone and I wasn't sure who all were involved with that elephant.

Any other questions sir?

::very satisfied smile creeps over entire face as Little speaks::

No. No, that's... plenty. Only, next time yer instincts give a little flare-up like that, and you feel compelled to tell me... find a way, Crewman. Find a way.

::pats her shoulder::

Thank you for coming in. Check back tomorrow, if you would... this could be the beginning of something fanTASTIC for my career..., Little.

::turns back to desk::

Dismissed.

Oh yes sir, I'll see you when you're ready to give me the 24 access to the ... evidence.

*floats out of the room* he put his arm around me! Patted me! said it could be the beginning of something! SQUEE!
