Walk wise, drive wise.
But if you have a Volvo, don't park.
I drove to school for the first time under the pretense that during exams, parking doesn't matter.
I even took the precaution to ask a friend to use his spot.
... which happened to be taken when I had arrived.
Fair enough. My fault for getting up so late. I arrived at around 7:25 for an exam I voluntarily moved to the morning.
So instead of parking in space 16 (which I had "reserved"), I parked in the nearby 21. Awesome.
Finished (kind of) the English exam with a worn hand.
Went to math, ate (as usual) while taking my test.
Went out to my car to get ready for track ...
Pink slip.
Boom.
$25.
That's five vegetarian Chipotle burritos! (Speaking of which, I'm pretty hungry).
Part of me felt that I had what was coming. But another part thought ... how about the person who parked in #16?
Or all the other spaces?
Anti-Volvo school?
Policy: You must have an expensive car as to show your family's affluence which will render us scared to give you a parking violation slip and getting a lawsuit in return.
But nah, I'm not that bitter a person.
Well, I gave Nee and Berlin a ride to their cars (because it was a bit cool outside ... just a tad), but it probably would have taken them less time to just walk.
... if they didn't freeze in the process.
During that time, I witness a fascinating spectrum of road rage.
Some were like us, sitting cooly and laughing at each other while listening to music.
Some were like Ben and Brenton, staring others down while listening to (and singing to) the Eagles.
And then there was that lady who called me an *sshole.
To be honest, I did take offense to that because I really couldn't help the fact that my car has mass.
But even more disturbing is that if someone were to truely be offended, I don't think she'd be secure knowing that her child goes to the same school as a person she may have ticked-off.
Just a thought.
Again, the three of us in the car just laughed it off and listened to our Zelda music.
Even more hilarious however was this other person's mom who actually got out of her car to tell them, face-to-face, her frustrations and their inability to drive properly.
Anyway, I don't think either of those two got out any faster from doing what they did.
People need to learn to relax sometimes!
Again, I try not to judge people by first impressions, but sometimes, it's too fun to ignore.
My little bad luck streak ended with a little incident after track where some kids were playing hackie-sack in the commons.
Us track people were on the bridge, and they threw it (the hackie-sack) to me to try and hit the balloons stuck on the ceiling.
I threw it, missed by inches.
It kept flying ...
... and got stuck on one of the supporting bar frames.
Sam: "You did what I wanted to do but did not have the heart to. Accidentally!"
Thankfully, any conflict was avoided by apologies and cash recompensation for the lost hackie-sack.
See? Things work out so much better when people just forgive each other.
The rest of the day was quite relaxing however.
Even more than that actually.
To the point of being fun!
Remember "having fun?"
It's good stuff.
Try it some time.
Today was an expensive day
but I still love my life more than any of you could!
(And no that's not a challenge, just a statement of optimism).
May the Force be with you.
Always.
