Excelsior!

Wow, I'm not good at this whole "I'll save it for tomorrow" thing, am I?

Well, at least I have a good reason for it.  Things have been moving quickly since the home inspection.

The due diligence period last through the end of this month, with closing scheduled for June 31.  The offer to buy was "as is", so neither side can back out without some major sort of wrench in the works, such as the home inspection revealing a black mold problem.  The inspection, however, turned out fine.  Post move, the plan was that my mother would stay in the area until her mother died, but that I would go ahead and move up.  My plans are to work some shitty job while going back to school and starting therapy, and the one thing I need is to have a place where I can have my two puppies.

So, what's changed?

My mother has decided that she will go ahead and move up before my grandmother passes.  So now, the most reasonable thing is for us to move together.  Sure, that means another year of living with my mother, but it'll help in a few ways.  This also means, however, that now we're looking for a big enough place for us and for her soap-making.  Ideally, we'll be there for a year, and after we learn about the area and figure out our long-term plans, go our separate ways - her to an industrial-zoned building that can accommodate her business and a small residence for herself, and me to wherever suits me.

What suits me?  Well, it's all about going back to school.  I've only put a little bit of time looking into it today, but it appears that Middlesex Community College is my best bet for an Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies.  The thing is, it takes six months for me to gain resident status, and that six months will end in January.  If we move quickly, I might be able to start attending classes in the Spring semester, but otherwise I'll have to wait until Fall 2015.  It's possible that they may have some means of being flexible if I'm two weeks away from six months or maybe I can go ahead and suck up the costs and go ahead and take some classes.  Hell, if that's the case maybe I could start taking a few this Fall.  We'll see.  In any case, I'm looking at 60 credit hours if none of my credits at UNCG transfer, but I have, like 135 credits hours there, so surely some of my requirements will be met. :P

So, taking everything into account, it may be good for me to be near Lowell (MCC day classes are in Lowell, night classes are in Bedford), but not necessarily key.  My mother and I could sign a year lease anywhere in NE (non-Mass NE residency tuition is, IIRC, $12 more per credit), and then I can move to the Lowell area in time for school (and by "Lowell area" I mean within 30 minutes, so that's, like, between Leominster, the coast, Nashua, and northern Boston).

So, the plan is to make every phone call in the world on Monday morning (Memorial Day!  FUCK.  Make that Tuesday.), be super busy here to get e'rything ready to go, view places after MM, close on June 31, hit the road, and move in July 1.

My, how busy things have been.
