“Get out of the way!” Jack pushed past a group of teenagers and nearly crashed into some tables outside a café. Out of the corner of his eye Jack could see Ianto moving on his left. Jack sighed and jumped over a bench.
This was their third attempt at a date and so far they had yet to get past the main course. Just as the waiter was laying their pasta dishes on the table Jack did a double take over Ianto’s shoulder. Owen was chasing what looked like an old lady, though it was an old lady who could move incredibly fast, through the mall. Jack shoved a couple of notes onto the table before grabbing Ianto’s hand and pulling him out the door.
“Jack?” Ianto asked as he shrugged on his jacket.
“Look,” Jack pointed down the mall. Ianto could make out Owen in his leather jacket, gun in hand running through the shopping centre.
“What is he chasing? And where’s the others?” Ianto fell in step with Jack; they both didn’t seem to notice that they had began to run after their friend.
“Shape shifter I’m guessing and if Owen is on his own it can’t be good.”
“Great,” Ianto smirked, “You know I don’t think the Universe wants to have this date.”
Jack laughed, “Screw the Universe, one day we will get to the cinema.”
And that’s how the two of them had ended up running through a crowded mall, date completely forgotten, pursuing an alien and a doctor. All in a days work.
