For those of you who believe Oriental Medicine is ineffective due to it's "unscientific" approach, you fail to remember that science is an ongoing study to try to understand nature, the universe, and ultimately, existence. Humankind is part of that nature. Nowadays we erroneously tend to equate "science" with "engineering." Ideally, science pursues the understanding of nature, while engineering synthesizes nature.

In this modern age of technology, we have put ourselves above nature because we think we can synthesize it. However, you cannot synthesize humanity as hard as you try. You cannot synthesize our lives. Therefore you cannot synthesize our health with synthetic medicine for chronic disease.

To take a variation on Einstein's quote, I have this to say: Nature is the master and science is it's servant. We now live in a society where we worship the servant and pay no respect to its master. We practitioners of Oriental Medicine take it upon ourselves to bring nature back into our humanity.

You don't need the scientific method, clinical trials, objectivity nor God to accomplish that. Just the understanding of nature and humanity's relationship and interaction with it, and each other.

Leave the scientific method, objectivity and synthetic engineering for planes, trains, automobiles, spaceships and particle colliders. Leave it out of our vitamins, food and medicine.
