This is so negative...

This girl talks about how "horrible" Albuquerque is. That the rape crimes are high, as well as the overall crime rating.
Most of is is written based on what she had heard, and some are facts.

Meth Labs are found about twice a week.
A lot of people do die from DUI/DWIs.
Crime here isn't at all bad comapred to bigger cities.
Like Rainswolf said it's nearly impossible to compare tests because each state has different tests.

Warning: This is a fairly negative post about ABQ, but it's the truth. Here are the honest answers for people thinking of moving to ABQ or New Mexico.

Are there any areas in ABQ to avoid?
-Yes! The whole town. The state has huge crime rates and ABQ is abvout average NM.
-Huge rape rates (ranked 3/2/1 several times in the past year)
-DWI/DUI is also up there.

She makes it sound like you have to cling to your purse, look over your shoulder ever few seconds and be paranoid about walking down the driveway to get your mail!
I have NEVER been mugged here. No one I know was either.
If there is one part of ALbquerque to avoid, it's the War Zone, near San Mateo and Central. Most everything is stolen there.
And maybe pehaps Five Points, but Five Points isn't that bad.
Our rental car was broken into, someone attempted to steal our car but couldn't because we had enough sense to unplug the battery, some idiot slashed 12 tires, including two of ours, an idiot girl ran around the block turning on all the faucets because she was either going crazy or she was high. But this all happened when I was young, our neighborhood has gone quiet.

Huge rape rates, sure, because most people report them here. I'm sure if every case of a rape was reported in every state, our state surely wouldn't be in the top ten.

How tollerant are the people?
-We don't have much racism or people being closed minded. Okay, so there's a little bit of racism issues against the illegals, but I don't think anyone says anything outloud or does anything about it. However, for the folks that have lived in NM thier whole lives, they just don't like outsiders. They don't like that our state is getting overrun with people who don't have roots here. It's pretty funny, because with the previous generations they could pretty much tell who you were and who you were raleted to by finding out your last name and which town you are from. But my generation walks around in strangers.
Not true.
The racism really depends where you live in the city. Where I live, it's mostly toward the white population. This usually go on in the schools, where they make it clear to you that they don't like you. But not every white person is ridiculed. It really just depends.

In the Heights, it's mostly toward the mexicans and hispanics, but people don't say it to them.
And yes, we don't like outsiders much, espcially from Texas and California.

Here are a couple facts from the census, if ya' like:
High school graduates, percent of persons age 25+, 2000 78.9%
Persons below poverty, percent, 1999 18.4%
There are the only real facts that she put in!

"You forgot that public transit sucks.

People drive like idiots.

and

There is a scandal in government every week."
Public transportation isn't that bad and they're improving it with better transit stations, buses and they're even adding one of those train type things to run down the middle of central.

Yes, people drive like idiots, that is completely true.
But the next time you encounter a bad driver, chickyboo, notice the license plate, it's most likely a driver from out of state. Like Texas...even more likely, California.

Albuquerque has it's ups and downs just like any other city.
You can't go purely off of the stats, facts and what people say about it. Everyone has to experience it for themselves and most the people that do, absolutely love it here.
Chickyboo, if you think that it's such a bad place, please stop telling everyone how horrible you think it is and move away already. It's people like you that make this city a horrible place. And next time you talk so badly about Albuquerque at least spell it right.
