He's a good generation younger than Petrovich and Sascha are; he grew up during the war, but since he grew up in the Varangian territories there was never really a question of him going and fighting. (You got it. :D) He heard stories, lots of them, about various Scary People, including a gent who went by Aleksandr, who was scary enough both the border patrols and the byzanti traders knew [of] him. Meeting a Very Scary Story was meep worthy. And damn surreal, considering how said Scary treated him (the boogeyman is Not Supposed to be more human than the woman he keeps company with. That's Just Wrong), but he's gotten used enough here to people referring to t'man as Sascha that he's slipping, himself, even in his head. :)
(He heard stories about the gent people called the Wolf, too, and we're going to get to see him freak out over THAT one, too. :D)
Yeah, he is. Petrovich and Helena don't know, which is contributing to the impression of random freakout on the kid's part. (He figures the myth association explains some of Helena's Scary, more than ignoring it, but yeah.)
Um, yes. Wonderful smushed together combination of HOT and TERRIFYING OMG that makes him act kinda weird for a while. >.>
Not where he'd have encountered it, no.
*jerks thumb at a certain witch's horse's rider* I still don't know what Sinclair's real name is, but the very strong association from Taarstad is that he's the Wolf, and he's terrifying.
