Technically what happened was all the crows in the area converged and she bugged out while they were distracting everyone, but it makes for a great image. (She's not that far onto the deity end of the scale. Not yet anyway.)

Yup, they're on the De'Ath's side.

They didn't expect to need to. They protest this!

She and Azrael were being used as general points of reference, yes--with the stated warning of the firework before the artillery went off to give them a chance to get out of the way.
