OOC Prompt: By the Numbers: 7 Wonders

The tutours had shown him the pictures, and explained the significance of each. The works each had a history, a place in culture recognized throughout the world. They were magnificent, and a part of him wished he had ventured so far in Paris as to see at least one, but at night his thoughts wandered over the limited scope of his own time. There had been sights to take away the breath of anyone he knew.
Once he had woken in the woods beyond the castle and the shafts of light through spring leaves of trees taller than any building he knew made him forget all worry.
There had been an unexpected stone off the road and the faces on each side seemed to speak with their eyes, watching the woods with the sorrow of great age.
The first time he ventured far enough to where the kingdom bordered the sea, the sky had seemed to open up. Beyond that cliff there was no edge to the world, only a fierce yawning greatness that crashed and roared without notice of people.
His travels had brought him one time to white ditches cut deep in the earth. He had traced each piece out wonderingly, alone in the green sward. Only an hour later from afar did he see the image the road had curved around.
Wilderness was only the space between villages where he might get what he needed, but when the path fell through young trees of red and gold and the wind filled the sky above with the musical rustling of a million leaves, it had made him pause.
The glimpse of a ring was always brief before the dancers scattered, but even then their footprints left in dew gave a sense of wonder to the hallowed spot.
One day a gate had led him stumbling into a wide bright place, full of people of all kinds from all worlds. That each world might hold similar wonders of their own to those he had seen left Thorn with a sense of awe.
