How You Doin!

Aug 25, 2007 14:46

Yes, yes, I hear you all clamouring away there, wondering what I've been up to.
Well, fret no more my friends!
For I am here to enlighten you!
Or some such nonsense.

Nat is doing well, which is the first lot of good news.
We had the first ultrasound, and the baby is about three months along.
The revised due date is Feb 29th, which would be interesting.
Heart rate was 160 bpm, which is the norm, however that's about all they can tell you that early on.
At the next ultrasound that should be able to give us a better indication of health, and of gender.
Yes, we are going to find out what gender the baby will be.
I know, a surprise would be fun, and maybe in the future if we have a second we will fly blind, but at this point we both feel it would be best to find out first, I mean really, it's just practical.

I have applied to graduate in Nov, though that's about all I know.
In the wonderful tradition of disorganisation at VU we wont really find out any more until about 6 weeks before graduation.
Not too helpful when you need to buy extra tickets for family members and the like *shakes head*

Work is going well.
I have bee given a full time permanent position, meaning I'm now a direct employee of NAB, rather than a "contractor".
This means that I get the employee benifits and stuff.
It also means I now work Mon-Fri 10am-7pm with a 1 hour lunch break.
The package is a little over $45k a year meaning after tax I should be getting about $650 p/w.
As a result of this me and Nat are now house hunting.
Not to buy of course, I would need to be getting a bit more before we could do that, but we figure we can spend around $200 p/w on rent, so there are some very nice places out there that we have our eye on.
The biggest barrier is the lack of prior rental references, I mean I dont even have my parents around to vouch for me *shrugs*
We should find one eventually though.
When we do move there are a few things we'llhave to pick up, but we've already started, we bought a new bagless vacuum cleaner just the other day.
No more 50yr old vac that doesnt pick up anything.

The timing of the job offer ironically didnt work out so well.
Ever feel like your life is just coasting along, and then BANG 50 things happen at once?
Well, basically that's been happening to me a lot lately.
Job, Wedding, Pregnancy, Turned 23, Finished Uni!
See what I mean?
Just the other day one of my lecturers from Uni asked if I was interested in a Equity Analyst position going with Citigroup, oh, these are the same guys that had that London job a while back that I told you all about.
Well, me and Nat talked about it, but it would involve a move to Sydney, very expensive place to live, plus they dont cover moving costs, and there would be a lot more stress involved.
In the end I passed on the interview.
I like where I am right now.
The job is easy, and while the work itself is repetitive, the people I work with are fun, so I enjoy myself.
There will be plenty of time in the future for me to go for the whole career progression path.
I think in a last ditch effort to intice me Andrew (lecturer) mentioned that the pay would probably be a professional package, in the area of $60-70k, but it didnt really sway me.
I cannot be bought! XD
He thinks that the financial world shouldnt have to do without me =P
I dont really care.
I learnt my notion of work ethics and family life from my Dad, who only works about 3 days a week and spends the rest of his time fishing LOL
Money is important, but I understand enough about the financial world to know it isnt everything, and I'm much more interested in enjoying my life and spending it with Nat, and eventually bubby, than working.

So, yeah, think that covers everything.
Still waiting on some books to come out.
Confessor by Terry Goodkind, and book 13 in The Wheel of Time Series byRobert Jordon.
Until then I dont have anything to read.
Once I've finished those series I'll have to find a new one to turn too....possible the works of Terry Pratchet...not sure..

Noodles everyone
Much Love.
