"Fight Smarter, Not Harder"

May 09, 2007 21:43

We all know this line; we all know this line quite well, most likely. While it is typically with helpful intent, there are times I hear it that it is almost...insulting--when used almost in commentary of one's efforts, for example, or by people who seem to enjoy showing off how "smart" they are by whatever means...

Is it truly a bad thing that some of us have a tendency--be it natural or otherwise--to think in the "harder" rather than "smarter" way? Is it truly a bad thing that some of us even possibly happen to LIKE doing things this way? Am I the only one who feels insulted by that quote's use in certain capacities?

...I don't know anymore. I'm halfway wondering whether I should continue RPing in stuff with combat, given this whole deal--I mean, I don't see myself as an idiot, but at the same time...when it feels like I'm the only "straightforward" thinker in a given group...it almost feels like I'm "out of my league"

I don't even know why I'm ranting about this. Maybe it's to blow off steam. Who knows. Call me a fucking idiot if you want. I don't care.
