Amusingly, it turns out that not only do the government want to know who we're associating with, they also want to know
who we're sleeping with.
I like the census. It provides interesting data, useful information for people doing family history stuff, and gives strategic planners something to base their numbers against instead of plucking them out of thin air. The fact that it's being run by
Lockheed Martin - a US arms manufacturer, amongst other things - gives me pause, as data retention legislation means that the instant the data is dropped onto US soil they are required to give a copy of it to the Homeland Security people on demand, but that's just by-the-by. I like the data it can provide. However, I don't think it's really necessary to request that level of detail.
So, in much the same way that "Jedi" became one of the biggest religions in the country at the last census, it would be quite nifty to see "Keyser Söze" listed as one of those "overnight visitors" on the form. Of course, now I've mentioned this it will be dismissed as an "orchestrated internet campaign" cf Jan Moir, but what they hey; I want to hear a Lockheed Martin employee throw a stack of completed forms against a desk and shout "who is Keyser Söze?"
(hat-tip to
chiller, there.)
