I'm safe in Atlanta until the 6th of next month. For my first time flying, it was quite an experience.
First we were scheduled on a 2pm flight. About thirty minutes before departure it was delayed until 3:45pm. We were unhappy but decided to wait. Suddenly, it was delayed again...until 5:22pm. They claimed it was for maintenance. Then Delta decided to transfer us to another flight for 4:35pm. Finally, we were on our way.
The flight itself was quick, less than 50 minutes thanks to a tailwind. In fact, we were told to slow down by air traffic control so we would fit in the arrival pattern. We landed safely and had to wait a bit for the gate to clear.
It took us 90 minutes to get our luggage. I had to check mine because it was too big and I packed my razor kit. Well, out luggage was still tagged with out original flight number and wound up on the wrong carousel. When we eventually went to the baggage counter they knew exactly what the problem was and we retrieved our bags. A quick dinner and car ride and we're safe in Atlanta.
