Oni-Con

Well, that was fun... if not exhausting.

Went up friday, got to see quite a few old friends and aquiantences alike... spent some time BS'ing it old skool, which is pretty much the main attraction for me at those conventions- seeing people whom I rarely get to.

My sentimants on the Con are probably the same as most peoples, it was alot of fun, but the hotel itself and the hotel staff were the unbridled avatars of ruination. They seriously tried to sqrew over the convention and the guests alike, from serious things like lying about the parking bill (And charging 20$ a day) to petty agrivating things, like shutting off the AC in the convention hallways in what I suppose was an attempt to get people to go back to their rooms... It really was rediculous. When they randomly came two hours early and told everyone at the dance that they were shutting down the dance, they had a good two hundred or more angry con-attendants stomping and yelling into the lobby. People were not happy, but at least they recognised that it was the hotels fault and not the Con's.

I've worked at a hotel for almost two years, what they were pulling was not only down right childish and obnoxious, it was illegal. False advertisement, changing of contract, unsanitary conditions... They apperently thought us to be a bunch of rampaging children, and while some admittedly are... many are fully functional adults who see this for what it is and will not stand for it. It is my greatest hope that they take a fall for what went on that weekend and if there is anything I can do to help... I hope someone lets me know.

Anyways, that aside... it was a shame to have the hotel muck up everything, because otherwise it was one of the smoothest running conventions I have attended. People were happy, there was plenty to do, I saw no Nazi security staff giving people a hard time *Cough*A-Kon*Cough*(Outside of the hotel security.), the dance's were -much- better this year thanks to a smart change in DJ's.... it really was a great Con.
