I know I'm kind of spamming y'all with this stuff, but this is more important than any fandom bullshit. This cannot go on unremarked.
This morning, Khamenei gave a speech at a prayer rally where he informed the public that there had been no corruption, no election rigging. That Iran's democracy is the best and most perfect in the world. That Ahmadi is president now because the people elected him.
He also compared the protests to Waco.
Here is a full transcript of his speech.
Thankfully, most people seem to realize that he's full of shit.
@StopAhmadi was Twittering this morning with a running commentary on his speech, and the outrage in his tweets was obvious.
The protests are being compared to
Tiananmen Square. The difference here (as the linked thread explains) is that the Green Revolution is not solely in the hands of students who are demanding change. It is being led by people who have overthrown governments before. They know what they're doing.
One of the most encouraging things about this situation is that they actually have a chance of succeeding.
But they can't do it without help. Creating Tor bridges and proxy servers are just one thing you can do to help (and if you do have one, email it to
this guy). The biggest thing you can do is to make as many people aware as possible. Tell everyone you know. This injustice against human rights cannot go on.
ontd_political is a good source for up-to-date information on what's going on over there. The current (fourth) live thread is
here. If you're not sure what's going on, browse through that post, or even just comment and say "Hey, guys, fill me in." They'll be more than happy to help you.
Protests are being planned
here. Look for one in your city, or help set one up if there isn't one.
Here's a similar thread on

Talking Points Memo has a
special section that updates automatically with news briefs. Keep the page open. Watch what's happening.
If you're on Twitter, follow the people who are updating and retweet their tweets. I'm very hesitant to put too many of them out in public, but email/IM/PM me and I'll be more than happy to give you a long list.
Wear green. If you don't have any green clothes, go buy a spool of Kelly-green ribbon at Joann's or Michael's. Wear ribbons on your wrists. Hand them out to your friends and family. Tell people what they stand for.
GET THE WORD OUT.
DO NOT LET THIS GO UNNOTICED.
