So, first week of classes for the new semester. Computer literacy is pretty much exactly what I expected: We'll be learning how to operate Microsoft Office. However, the teacher is terribly funny and, I am fairly certain, terribly gay, so it shouldn't be too awful. Tomorrow we have two hours of lab time, so I'm going to try to get as many of the Word labs done as I can (read: all, as there are only four and I DOUBT any of them are going to take me half an hour) and hopefully that way I won't have to go to lab at all next week.
However, it looks as though this is shaping up to be another semester of bullshit from the theatre department. First of all, they've now decided we have to address the faculty by their last names: Mr Sheffield, Mrs Ruiz-Esparza, etc. Apparently some great all-knowing They have decided that the incoming students aren't respectful enough to the teachers, and so they're making us do that now. (Note: Debi's take on this? "every time someone says Mrs Ruiz-Esparza I look for my mother-in-law..." Also, apparently Chuck laughed at Courtney the other day when she called him Mr Sheffield. lol.)
Also, I've heard Glen, the ballet teacher, who is doing the choreography for Guys & Dolls, is going around telling people in her ballet class that they have roles. Uh. She can't do that. What? Also: apparently Wendy, the director, told Tom "not to bother" auditioning for one of the shows at another campus. Between that and the rumours that some of the cast has already been decided, I'm willing to bet it has. If that's what it looks like happened once the cast list goes up? I'm filing an official complaint with the Dean's office.
On the other hand, my Romantic music and poetry class is SO MUCH FUN. It's taught by these two men who have known each other since, like, 1972 or something, and they've both worked at Richland for several decades, and we're reading Wordsworth and Coleridge and Blake and listening to Bach and Vivaldi and omfgsofun. There's like ten people in the class it ROCKS.
Intro to psych unfortunately I've only had once, because the prof wasn't there Thursday, but she's awesome. We split into groups and played Two Truths and a Lie on Tuesday. Mine were: I've seen Phantom of the Opera six times; I'm highly allergic to strawberries; and I own seven wigs. If you've ever spoken to me for more than a couple of minutes you probably know which one is the lie. XD Anyway, we also had to name our groups, since we're going to be doing projects and shit in them later in the semester, and because the silly boys couldn't come up with anything I named us Operation Wombat. lolololol.
I finally got my hands on The Sweet Far Thing, and because Mariah is slutbag whorescum the ending got ruined for me, but HOLY SHIT AMAZING BOOK AMAZING BOOK I AM IN LOVE WITH LIBBA BRAY OMFG. I will probably read it another five or six or thirty-nine times.
In other news, Brawl has gone Batshit Fucking Crazy again and I love it. Ginny's running around being all Dark and insane :D It's such fun.
I discovered last night that Gai has read ALL OF THE SAME OBSCURE FANTASY NOVELS I HAVE. It is so thrilling. EVEN YOUNG WIZARDS. And Black Jewels. aiotwgrjkfv,mfaejhyg,fv.
..........soooooo now I'm just waiting for something to happen until Linzi gets off work and calls me so we can go run all over the city like a couple of lunatics. Siiiighhh.
