RIP Lil Bit

My aunt called me Sunday afternoon to tell me some horrible news: her cat "Lil Bit" had died. No one knows what happened. My grandmother found him out on the upper deck. My uncle thinks he was bit by a snake. We don't really believe that any animal got ahold of him because he was able to get up on the deck, which is a feat when there's nothing wrong with him.

He did, however have Herpes when he was kitten. And like most of the other animals at my grandparents, he came as a stray. He had had all his shots just a few months ago, so it was because of that.

I think he was an Egyptain Mau (that cat from the new Catwoman movie). They are more like trained dogs than cats, and that's how he was. He had a strange meow besides his usual ones and he had a unique purr. He would sleep on our bed at night and take up about half the bed himself. He really was the baby. He would bat almost anything around on the floor that he could find. And he was sometimes caught eating dog tricks.

One of his cutest antics? When I would give him a treat he would stand up (he was a loooong cat) and grab my hand pulling it down. Soon he started doing it whether I actually had a treat or not. He will be greatly missed and my poor aunt and grandma are mourning. (Yes we mourn over our animals. They are part of the family.) Poor Moussie and Precious (the two females) seem to be affected as well. We will all miss our "Little Man."

Lil Bit is the one in the middle. Moussie is the other dark tabby, and Precious is the one with the white. I'll get better pics up when I get back to Florida.
