You know, it's funny, because, at first, I wasn't really drawn to Lipton/Speirs in the beginning. Hence why my first fic was Speirs/Nixon. Then Nixon/Winters. I'm not sure when, but somewhere along the way I fell for Lipton. Hardcore. Even more so than Speirs. It's weird, but there it is. I couldn't imagine not loving these two today, especially together.

And, yes, Speirs really did get married in England. There he married a widow whose husband supposedly died in North Africa; she was having Speirs' child, so he married her and sent all the stuff he was looting back to her and his son (named Robert and who later went on to join the military and was, as Ambrose put it, Ron's 'pride and joy.') But, as it turned out, her original husband had only been a POW and, upon his return, she left Speirs for him. Plus, kept all the German silver. How's that for a happy ending?

As far as I know about Lipton, however, he had that wedding ring on for the entirety of the European Campaign and I've never heard of anything about a divorce during war-time. This is simply just an 'easy fix' for that pesky 'I'm married, sir!' problem. Which I shamelessly adopted. But, it's plausible, nonetheless, considering how long those boys were gone from home; I've just never heard of anything official on this note.
