Month-long TV Meme - Day #18 - Favourite title sequence.
When nicis_anatomy started to post this meme last month, I promised her that I would do it in June. So I am keeping my promise. From seeing Nici's posts last month, I know several of my answers will be the same as hers.

Day 18 - Favourite title sequence.
When I first saw this meme I wasn't sure what I'd go with for this one. However, we are rewatching M*A*S*H at the moment and every night I'm reminded by just how much I love the opening sequence.
The music is haunting (even without the lyrics) and the graphics flow so well, you see from the open sequence what the show is so clearly about and who are the main characters involved - mostly. Radar looking up as the helicopters bringing wounded fly in over the hills; the doctors, nurses and core men running to the helicopter pads whilst others drive the jeeps/truck; said doctors, nurses and core men gathering around the injured; instructions being given and the journey back with the injured to the unit. Very powerfully done. I like how, over time, it was extended and the people changed/given slightly different views, in order to accommodate the extra names as the main cast grew.
The series is amazing, it's thought provoking, it's humane, it shows real people thrown into a war they don't want to be involved in; people who for the most part aren't regular army. It shows doctors who treat people no matter if they are their own or the enemy, race, creed, colour, friend, foe doesn't matter to the doctors (mostly). They do what they trained to do: they save lives. Yet in the midst of this hell there is humour - lots of it, but the humour doesn't detract from what the message of the series.
It's an title sequence I don't tire of, I don't find myself fiddling around just waiting for it to be over; I watch it. Sadly, I can't find a decent video on YouTube (but then YouTube I often find is evil t me *g*). I was looking for one for Season 4 as the sequence had extended to include Father Mulcahy as well, but I failed. There was a very grainy/fuzzy version for S1 & 2 (including when the music changed somewhat and became jazzier, which didn't work) and there's the changed version for later on, but I couldn't find for what I was looking :-(
