*Smiles* I know. I know. Hey, I wrote het *g*

Aww, you're too sweet.

Thank you so much. It's really wonderful to know that. That really is excellent and very reassuring.

Okay. So Toby is Director of Communications and Sam is Deputy Director of Communications. Sam is idealistic, young, etc. (but you know that, you've my babble).

Toby has an ex-wife - Andy - and for some reason they sleep together and Andy is pregnant, with twins. Toby wants to remarry Andy, but she doesn't want to remarry him. She loves him, but knows they can't live together.

Sam was sent to California just before the second election to try to persuade the person (Will) running the campaign for the Democrat Senator to stop - because said person running has died. However, Will is so passionate about it and refuses to stop campaigning - even though it's obvious they'll lose. Then just as Sam is heading back to DC, Will tells him that the dead running for Senator candidate's wife would like a name, just in case her dead husband actually does win the election; his name is on the ticket, it can't be taken off (if he does there will be an automatic re-election in three months, but no one is interested in having their name put forward). Sam, who used to live in California and who knows the widow says 'if you can't find anyone, I'll do it'.

We then fast-forward to election night and lo and behold California is too close to call. Sam is in a mad panic because he hasn't told anyone at the White House what he said, because he he thought it was all a moot point. Then the Republican candidate decides to concede - even more panic from Sam - and before he can stop it, his name as been announced. So then he has to confess all to the President, Toby and the others.

Several of them tell Sam he should run, it's only three months, etc. At first Toby tells him not too, then Sam gives an impassioned speech and Toby suggests he does run - and win. So Sam goes to California to run for a post he knows he'll lose.

This story was my take on why he really went.

As I said it's a snapshot as in fact he does see Toby again and they hug - twice - so at the moment I'm ordering the muse to stop wanting two sequels.

Hug

And Toby talks about wanting to be by Sam's side when he loses. Sadly, it is how 'Sam' departs from the show *sniffles* and Toby returns to trying to get Andy to remarry him.

Does this help?

OMG! now I see it! And that hug! *shivers* Yeah, I can imaging your muse having a fest here!

Does this help?
To your cunning purpose to make me watch 'The West Wing'? Indeed it did *laughs*

It was a lovely hug, a seated hug and Toby initiated it. Oh, and of course Toby/Sam aren't *the* main slash pairing, well it wouldn't be me in a multi-pairing fandom to go for *the* pairing, would it *g*

Poor Sam *sniffles* Oh, it is. It is. *Glares at it* It keeps prodding a wee sequel from Sam's and then Toby's POV, plus another one once Toby has gone!!!! But I will not let it.

To your cunning purpose to make me watch 'The West Wing'? Indeed it did *laughs*

*Bats eyelashes innocently* Hee. Oh, good.

Well, as I am in a lot of buddy-shows, is hard not to be in the main pairing, because, seriously, there is any pairing aside Starsky/Hutch, Body/Doyle, Napoleon/Illya, Jim/Blair...
But, then, there are those shows where are lots of pairings, and some of mine are 'the' pairing, like John/Rodney in SGA, and others.. not so much, Jethro/Ducky and Skinner/Mulder, anyone? *laughs*

So... three sequels? Your muse is a really busy muse! *laughs* Sorry, I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing with you!

Yeah, innocent! *looks opens tabs* Sure! ;)

Indeed, in that kind of show there is only one pairing (although a few more have snuck in in Pros).

*Giggles* And you like Fraser/Vecchio as well, non-main pairing.

But this muse is being sat on from a great height! *Smiles* I know you are.

*Chuckles softly and innocently*
