Why this must be read:
Susan is another new to Gibbs/Ducky writer and thus far this has been her only story - I am hoping she'll soon write another one for us as she certainly captures the couple so very well.
This is a short, sweet story about kissing and about how Gibbs can't talk, that is full of love, affection, tenderness and so very in character. You might have two men who are clearly in love with one another, who see one another as being the most important thing; they might be a little softer than they are on the screen, but nonetheless they are so clearly the men we do see on the screen, because when they are around one another they do soften and change. Susan depicts this in I Know so very well indeed. For such a short story is is crammed full of warmth, affection, romance, spot on characterisation and is very touching.
Ducky always kisses him like they have all the time in the world.
No matter how busy they both may really be, no matter how many pressing things may be clamoring for their attention, it is the one thing Ducky does not, will not, rush. Gibbs asked him about it once, and he's never forgotten Ducky's answer: "I do not believe in hit-and-run kissing, my dear. If one lacks the time to do the thing properly, then one should wait until there is adequate time."
