One True Pairing (OTP) Poll - Results

Nov 27, 2006 10:05

Thank you to all of you who took my most recent poll, and also for expanding on your choices in the comments - it made for some very interesting and educational reading.

On one hand, given the comments for my previous poll, together with bits and pieces I'd picked up around fandom, I wasn't surprised by the results. On the other hand, part of me ( Read more... )

I'm glad you found it interesting too.

As you know I share your view of a OTP whihc makes me rather old fashioned it would seem.

You and me both. Certainly for reading; less so for writing, but even then, if you take it against all the other views, then it's fairly unsual.

I mean you can read about any pairing your heart desires in some of them.

How true.

I'm thinking NCIs and poor Gibbs getting so much action I am surprised he doesn't retire to a monestry ;-)

LOL Good point. He certainly can't have time to actually work!

The more I think too I think that even fandom that used to have 2 pairings (eg dS) have expanded too. In the last few years in dS we've seen definate rise in some pairings like Kowalski/Vecchio, Kowalski/Gardino, femslash has got a bit more popular. There's seemingly more people who experiment with pairings than there when the fandom started 12 years ago. I think part of that is the multi-pairing atmosphere of LJ.

And I believe, but I may be wrong, that Stagate SG-1 is like this too. At first it was only Jack/Daniel and Jack/Sam, but now it's expanded, to pretty much everyone with everyone else. Jack has even been paired with Thor!

But yes I think you've got a good explanation there.

Thank you.

:-) I always like your meta polls.

Indeed. I was slightly surprised that the original defintion was so a minority view now I'll admit. Not that there's anything wrong with that ;-)

Hee hee indeed not. No wonder it took him so long to finish that boat.

You know that sounds about right to me. I've not been in the SG-1 fandom but I have watched from afar and even that show seems to be growing more pairings as time goes on. Jack/Thor is one I had not heard of and one I'd have never thought of either.

In fact a lot of shows seem to get more pairings as time goes on. Very intersting...

We're used to being in the minority, aren't we?

*Giggle* Hey, I know, he didn't really go to Mexico; he just pretended to, so that he could hide away in his basement and finish it :-)

Nor would I!

I think you;re right! I mean it had come on between 3 & 4 hadn't it hmmm....

Ducky: Jethro, when are you going to tell them you weren't really in Mexico?

Gibbs: I don't know, Duck, I mean why break the illusion.

Ducky: They think you were in Mexico, miles away, that didn't care nymore when you were down in your basement finishing your boat.

Gibbs: You were there with me, duck, why don't you tell them.

Ducky: It's not up to me, Jethro and I think the explanation for your facial hair should come from you.

Gibbs: I don't think they'd believe it.

Ducky: Ah well perhaps you;re right.

Gibbs: Dinner, Duck?

Ducky: That would be lovely, thank you Jethro.

Nor would I!

I'm still boggling...

Ah, that's nice :-)

This ignoring each other is all just an act ;-)

Jethro???? Do tell, please. Pretty please.

Ducky: I'm afriad it's rather embarassing, Nicky and Jethro seems rather reluctant to share it.

Gibbs: Well it was partly your fault, Duck, if you'd told me I was allergic it wouldn't have happened.

Ducky: Jethro, my dear, I know much about your medical history but I'm afraid that particular item of interest alluded me. The moustache did cover it up well. And it made you look...

Gibbs: What?

Ducky: Distinguished. I mean it wasn't the sort of moustache my father would wear, but still.

Gibbs: You want me to grow it back?

Ducky: Oh no, dear, you look much better without it.

Gibbs: Thank you.

Ducky: Although I believe Abby doesn't agree with the rest of the team's idea for a Christmas gift.

Gibbs: Whihc is?

Ducky: A razor.

Gibbs; And what am I getting from you, Duck?

Ducky: Ah you have to wait and see.

Gibbs: Okay, I will. But so will you.

Ducky: Of course, I like surprises.

The mind boggles even more, gentlemen, but I won't push you for an explanation.

You want me to grow it back?

No! We don't.

You're welcome, Ducky.

And I'm sure that if anyone can make Jethro do anything, it's you, Ducky.

Jack/Thor is one I had not heard of and one I'd have never thought of either.

Somebody did a very funny "Something to Talk About" vid for Jack/Thor years ago (RDA does get quite hands on with the puppet from time to time) but I think the main source is actually that Thor is voiced by Daniel's actor. So it can be a bit of a joke pairing that isn't seen as a threat to Jack/Daniel.

I didn't know that about MS being the actor voice behind Thor. Interesting.
