"Got the crackers, sunshine," Bodie ruffled Ray's white curls.
"Dunno if they're acceptable today." Ray gazed up at Bodie.
Bodie tried to ignore the low rattle in Ray's chest. "Which of our illustrious leaders came up with that?"
Ray shrugged. "Dunno, love. It's just the way it is today. Ban this; ban that; rewrite that bit of history; oh, and those bits."
Bodie poured himself a whisky and slumped down next to Ray. "Gonna be a real scintillating Christmas."
"Still could be. Tell 'em I'm not well enough. It'll be just you and me."
Bodie took Ray's hand. "Sounds perfect."
