Tim stands in the deserted squad room and stares around him.
For twenty years he's been coming here. In some ways little has changed; in other ways everything has changed. There's no Gibbs; no Ducky; no Tony; no Kate; no Ziva; no Abby. Ducky and Kate are dead; Tony and Ziva are married; Gibbs is in Alaska; he has no idea where Abby is. Only Jimmy remembers the old days.
Twenty years as a Special Agent; now Senior Field Agent. He could have been Team Leader; he could have replaced Gibbs. But no one could replace Gibbs. Parker's good, but he's not Gibbs.
As he looks around the room he makes a decision; one he should have made before now. He's going to leave NCIS. He's going to quit. He's going to say goodbye to his past and walk away. He's not sure what he'll do, where he'll go. But it's time he left. Time he said goodbye. Said goodbye to Jimmy and to NCIS.
Leaving will be hard; but it's time.
He takes one more look around the room that has been his life for twenty years. Then turns on his heel and walks away. He doesn't look back.
