When I first saw this week's six words I thought they really really tough and I'd struggle to find an idea. Then, as so often happens, two ideas popped into my mind.
The first is MFU; the other is original fiction.
The words are:
Conservative. Despise. Expression. Graduate. Know. Unfortunate.
UNFORTUNATE
Napoleon and Illya watched the latest group of survival school graduates leave the room. The expression on Illya's face would have been unreadable to anyone who did not know him well.
Napoleon knew him well. When it came to certain things, Illya held very conservative views.
"It is wrong," Illya said, as the door closed.
"I know you think Daniels was an unfortunate choice, but -"
"Unfortunate? That is not the word I would use. I despise what happened today, Napoleon." Illya spun on his heel and strode out of the room.
"Illya, wait. I didn't -" Napoleon hastened after his partner.
PLAY THE GAME
She wanted to be a surgeon. She wanted to help people; to save lives; to make lives better. In order to do so she had to graduate.
Her knowledge of how things worked these days made her realise that any expression of her conservative views would unfortunately see her driven out of the university. Thus, she made the decision to play the game. She would keep quiet; she would keep her head down; she would do what she had to do.
She despised herself. But it was only for a few years. She could do it. She would do it.
