Like you, I'm not using the new style on my computer - just on iphone/ipad - mainly cos the new style is easier to read on these but keeping the old style on the computer! So might see on my iphone just to see what it's like!
There are several of us 'oldies' around. Ah, I might try it on my iPad just to see what I can see - thanks for the 'suggestion'.
Given it doesn't work on all styles and is only on posts I'm not overly sure how much use it will be.
I do get the whole 'it would be nice to just show the person I've read this post' thing and yes, there has been the odd time I've thought it would be nice just to click a button. But OTOH it doesn't take a life-time to post a two-word comment or even just *Hugs* or something, does it?
It will be interesting to see what people think of it/how useful it is.
I'm on the old style too though, so why can I see them? Unless it's a browser thing too - I'm on Chrome.
Seriously though, I always sort of thought the purpose of LJ, and where it stands out from other sites, was the conversation/comment aspect. Introducing a quick fly-by 'like' button takes that away :-( Maybe I'm missing something though...
I've had an email to say someone 'liked' my post - but that's all 'someone' not who. However, I don't see the button on posts when I go through LJ. Do you see it?
It's the whole not seeing the button that folk are saying doesn't happen in the old style.

Not sure yet whether it will be useful, although?

Well exactly! Which is what a lot of folk were saying on the place it was announced. If you're missing it, m'dear, so am I!

There are some pointless things which are good; this is not one of them.

As for the "like" thingy... I dislike Fb, and really did not appreciate Tumblr.
So, why should I want to use it?
