NCIS Available on R2 DVDs
NCIS is going to be released (on 5th June) on Region 2 DVDs. Which is good news for anyone who can't play Region 1, or indeed simply would prefer R2 discs.
At the moment I can only find it on Play.com and it is more expensive than the R1 set. However, I would hope and expect the price to drop once other on-line stores pick it up.

That is good news. It's foward thinking considering it's not all that well known here...yet.
And I note even the RRP is £10 lower than dS S1 was.

It does. Less chance there'll be a problem I would think. And easier to get hold of.

Considering I got the Best Buy ones (both seasons) which cost about £35 including the postage from the USA that really is a difference.

Now that is expensive! It makes you wonder how they can justify it, doesn't it?

It does.
I wonder if it's becuase they figure it has limited appeal and therefore a high price. I've been looking at some of the other titles released by the same company and most of the complete sets they have (some form series I would say have a small fanbase and therefore limited appeal) are £20-£30 cheaper. One of the few that is more expensive is The Saint (£99) but's that's all the episodes plus heaps of extras.
I don't get why dS is so expensive unless it cost them a lot to get the rights...

Possibly. But if you think about it, the psychology of that way of thinking is wrong. If you really think something has limited appeal, or you're worried it isn't going to sell well, then you sell it at a low price, therefore encouraging those who might just be browsing and think 'hmm, that looks okay', or those folk who'll buy anything that their loved actor/actress is in (even if it's just one ep). It's the 'Pile 'em high, sell 'em cheap', philosophy.

Maybe. But what surprised me is thy the company that released them in US and Canada and sold them through Amazon.com and .ca, didn't just sell them over here too. Unless it was something to do with 'foreign' rights????

That's the way I owould think. I mean dS does have a small fanbase but it is small and a lot of the general public might not remember it from 10 years ago, at least not enough detail to want to splash out nearly £60. It just...defies logic really.

Unless it was something to do with 'foreign' rights????The offcial ones that were sanctioned by Alliance Atlantis could only be released in North America because that's where Alliance Atlantis had the rights. Ironic really but the company who made the show didn't have all the rights. The European rights I believe were owned by another random company who presumably have now passed them to Network DVD ( ... )
