Well, here I am procrastinating again.
Not really, I am just taking a break from the drudgery of outlining my 6 page African History paper. Sometimes we all just need a break.
Harvard is pretty amazing. It's weird, sometimes I have pretty bad days, like today, but at the end of it all, I know how great I have it. I love my friends here. LOVE. Especially Dana and David and Alex and Martin. Martin is fantastic. One of those people that I know I shall be good friends with for the rest of my life. I'm down in the basement with him and Dana right now studying. Happiness. Mariachi is going well, I actually had a great rehearsal today. Our first two gigs are on October 28th and 29th, which are unfortunately the same days my parents are comming to visit and the weekend before my two midterms. Fun. I have a lot of pictures of me and my roomies and our adventures, including one of Martin in Alex's hot pink rain boots. Good times. I will upload them when I figure out how. This weekend was pretty wonderful: every night I've had a good time. Friday night was Kyle's birthday. So the boys upstairs constructed an ingenious device, by which beer can be poured through a long tube that runs down the secret staircase from the fourth floor to the first floor, where it can be imbibed amist much jubiliation. (Just copied my friday night away message, word for word...lol). Cool idea, except that they only used it once, the whole place WREAKED of beer, and our proctor caught them. The party itself was lame, because all the random people that didn't even know Kyle were there, from John Hopkins and MIT and such. So Martin and I went into my common room and watched Return of the King. Good times. Martin is our adopted asian. He takes Amy's place when she is gone, which is all the time. David, the hispanic guy, is our adopted african american, and Henry, the african american, is our adopted white person. Fun. Last night David and Martin and Alex and Chee and I all hung out in the common room, ate cookies, listened to recordings of Kennedy speeches, had a pillow fight, and generally goofed around.
Weather is crazy here. Yesterday it was pouring rain all day. Today it was sunny, then windy and overcast. WHAT??? Strange.
There is more I wanted to say...Oh yeah, on friday my archaeology class had to do a systematic random samplying survey of the presence of cigarette butts in Harvard Yard. Basically we were forced out of our beds at 10 am to go congregate in the freezing rain and wind at the steps of Widner library, handed a map with a grid on it, some tape measures, and some plastic bags, and told...GO, MAP OUT THE PLACEMENT OF CIGARETTE BUTTS IN THESE RANDOMLY CHOSEN 10 x 10 METER SQUARES...NOW!! Very daunting. But I was chosen project manager and I think I did a good job. VERY FUN. I made friends with this sophomore who reminds me of all my high school friends COMBINED. He is such a royal nerd.
Well, enough procrastinating for one night. I got lost in Widner library and couldn't find my books so I'm doing this silly essay on the role of british traders in 18th century Congo for my history class worth 10% of my grade....fun.
