So while Alice is down having her clutch replaced I'm having to borrow the company cars/bikes to do my job. It is quite nice though as it does mean I get to drive even more vehicles. Last night I was in the company Smart car, now that was an interesting thing to drive.
Smart cars,
I'm not sure if it's a model thing or an odd gearbox, but it had a semi-automatic gearbox in it, which means it has a small lever with "N,R,+ and -" you push + as you want the car to shift up gear but theres no clutch pedal. I would have been much happier if it had a clutch and regular gearbox but despite that it was a fun little driver and fairly nippy. It was wierd parking it too seeing as I'm used to driving big cars and trucks, reversing was hillarious as the back of the seat is the back of the car. The other strange thing was the amount of dashboard space in front of the steering wheel was huge! I'm not to sure why but the ignition is also down between the seats in front of the handbrake. Strange, but enjoyable.
SatNav's
As I'm now a dilevery driver I'm finally able to buy a satnav for a good reason, so I have. A Garmin Nuvi205, which Sophie has called Annie (from Life on Mars). Annie is quite a good little satnav, pretty clever too, she started to figure out that I was always parked facing the wrong way at the start and re-routed me before I even got out of the space. There is sadly no good new voices for download, I do envy the American Mio Knight Rider Satnav, for having the actual voice of William Daniels navigate you. All in all the a good little unit for a decent price.
