Around 6 we got home from picking up Jeska and we got ready for the show. I wore my "cross shirt" with my velvety pants, and Jeska had this really hot "china girl" shirt that she got at Torid. She was going to wear vinyl pants, but then opted out for other black pants. She looked very nummy indeed.
We get to our seats about 5 minutes before Macy Gray gets on. The seats were pretty damn close, only one row in front of us, but no one in front of us, so we had a clear view of the stage. The only problem was a catwalk for the performers that partially blocked our view somewhat.
Macy Gray totally and utterly SUCKED!!! yes, it deserves a bolded caps lock! I can't think of anyone I've seen that blew that bad, and I've seen a shitload of live shows. After her set, we were crowd watching and Jeska pointed out George Lucas in the front row... Funny stuff.
David Bowie comes out and starts off with Rebel Rebel. From that point on, not only were we both giddy like schoolkids, but we were both mesmerized by his stage presence. Before last night I have said that there are only three voices that I would turn gay for - Duncan Sheik, Robert Smith, and Ron Sexsmith, and of those three only Duncan Sheik is what I would consider hot (WOAH, weird coincidence, just after I typed that sentence out, Barely Breathing popped on the radio... Creepy!) Anyways, after last night, David Bowie has shot to the front of that list. He's so damn sexy, I think I actually have a crush on him. I think that's a first for me. When he sang China Girl and went in his deep voice, "Oh baby just you shut your mouth" that was it for me.
He played so many great songs, including his new one New Killer Star which completely proves he's still got the ability to write good songs. Some of the songs were All the Young Dudes, Fame, China Girl, The Man Who Sold the World, Under Pressure (with STUNNING vocals done by his bassist), I'm Afraid of Americans, Heroes, and during the encore he played Suffragette City, and my new favorite closing song ever, Ziggy Stardust. I'll post a complete setlist as soon as I track it down.
So the show was more than amazing, it was phenomenal, I still can't get over how awesome it was. Can't you tell?
Alright I think that is enough for now, I'll gush more later I'm sure. If any of you get a chance to go to a show, GO!!!
