Ok, first off the Steve Poltz shows. Night one was unbelievable with Lisa Sanders opening up and Steve just hitting nearly a three hour set filled with fun and debauchery among them were gratuitous nipple shot from girls that went onstage, Steve mooning us, then steve dancing on the bar while playing guitar, then stripping his shirt off, and pants down. He didn't finish until 2am, and it was simply amazing.
Night two, was a stark contrast, mostly mellow songs, Lisa again was amazing. Gerald "Child" McMullin, one of the original Rugburns was there and joined Steve to sing Burritos and Dorritos, then Tom Petty's Breakdown. Words cannot express how much this man rocks!
Saturday night we were supposed to go to the Indigo Girls show but due to Nara's visit we hung out with him instead. At night, after he woke up from jet-lag (flying in from Japan) we all watched Speed Racer for almost 3 hours, til it was well past midnight, and we were to get ready for great big fun in the morning.
Highlight of the day yesterday (besides seeing work by Warhol, Picasso, Lichtenstein, Frida Kahlo, and Nara all in the same day) Was walking into Giant Robot, and having Nara translate his biography that was sitting on the counter for us.
After getting home from a long day, we ordered pizza, and stayed up until 3am listening to some of the folk cd's Nara bought, then the Clash, RockFour, Led Zeppelin, all while going through his artwork... It was so freeking awesome!
There's so much going on that I'm sure I'm not thinking of right now, but this weekend was really cool... Now if I can just keep the momentum going.
