Vacation... all I ever wanted.
So, I have a whole week of vacation. The first chunk of time off, greater than a 3 day weekend, since I'm not sure when.
Usually at this time of year I would be heading off to San Diego for Comic Con but it has become so much a puppet of the big studios and suits who want to grab the "18-34 year old demographic" that I felt just totally overwhelmed and disgusted with it all.
Especially after last year... My boyfriend spent 3 hours standing in line for a panel that he didn't get into and when we got back to the hotel room there were multiple YouTube videos of the event. Why bother... The video of the panel was just as good on my laptop (or better) than it would have been in the back of the gigantic convention center hall.
Anyway, back to what actually is happening this year...
We wanted to go Somewhere, far enough that it wasn't home, but not spend all our time and money getting there.
We ultimately chose Santa Barbara for a couple of reasons. We had stayed there on the way to San Diego a few times and we intrigued with the area. And there are multiple, kid-friendly, small venue attractions available like a Zoo, a Museum of Natural History, and a Maritime Museum
