"Some residents resist wearing the signaling device and may even try to remove it. In cases of this type, here are some helpful things to try:

-Have a family member present the device as a gift to his/her loved one.

-Glue a picture or sticker to the device to disguise it. Paint over it with clear nail polish.

-Feed the device through a hair 'scrunchie' to disguise it.

-Be patient. Don't give it up too soon. Most residents adjust to wearing the device."

And, God help me, they do, with some notable exceptions (I had a resident gnaw through an ankle strap once).
I know these things are useful, believe me. I've had patients who would've been out in the traffic before anyone had a chance to notice. Still, the tricks weird me out.
