Ozias James Goold -- 8 lbs. 2 oz, 21 inches of adorable elven love. Ozias (oh-ZI-us) is a Hebrew name* meaning "God's strength," James is for my Uncle Jim. And Spensaur, for the record, knew the name of the baby as soon as he laid eyes on him. He was born on April 30th at 2:18 pm, after roughly 14 hours of chemically-induced labor.

Ozias (also known as Ozzie, Ozzie Bear, and Oz the Great and the Terrible) is fairly mellow with dark blonde hair (!) and navy blue eyes that we're pretty sure will be turning hazel or dark brown like mine. And he's abnormally adorable -- I kept cracking about how old man/alien-like he'd look and instead he came out with no cone head and big open eyes. He's a little jaundiced so he's slightly carrot-colored, but as he'd be too spectacular to look upon otherwise, I can understand why Ozzie would do this.

Spensaur and I are completely enthralled, although sleep-deprived. Pictures will be posted as soon as we develop them.

Coo. Coo, says me, the tired and the satisfied.

*My dad thought Ozias was a prophet's name from the Book of Mormon. Hee!
