Oh my gosh, why in 9 hells do I have "Tootsie Roll" going through my head? I haven't heard that since I was waiting tables at the Silver Diner and the servers would go to clubs afterwards! I'm appalled!

I somehow blame this on our dog causing me sleep dep. Gah!

nostalgia, music

Wow. Tootsie roll is probably the one song I always wondered about how they got permission to play at LDS sponsored dances. Seriously, how many times have you heard this one being played in the cultural hall of some unsuspecting church building? I've heard it dozens of times. And nobody stops to think, "Hmm, when they say tootsie roll I don't think they're talking about the popular chocolate candy. And I don't think the 69 Boyz are called that because they were born in 1969." But yeah, not a great song to have stuck in your head.

But honestly, other than it encouraging me to shake mah rump, I can't really decipher what it means. And please, ignorance is bliss!

Yeah, I'm going to encourage you to not think about it too hard. The only reason I know is because I used to know the guy who DJ'd church dances in Thatcher and he always thought it was funny he could get away with playing that song. At the time I hadn't thought too hard about the lyrics, but from then on I began to see why it's the type of song you wouldn't want good little Mormons gyrating to. But yeah, don't you go thinking about it. I don't want to contribute to the delinquency of someone roughly my same age.

That's ok, I have "I'm Henry The VIII, I Am" running through my brain.

It sort of makes me want to drown myself.

A conversation with Ben at work yesterday morning about his trip to Costco resulted with him eating a Toostie Roll, and getting that blasted song in my head. I was half-singing it most of the morning. It was not good.

You and I must have had some sort of Vulcan mind-meld yesterday, but all you got from my brain was the junk. So sorry.
