Getting past web blocks

Oct 05, 2005 10:00

I'm using babelfish to get past the blocks here at school, so I may have to come back and edit this entry later as the website thinks it's translating this from Japanese to English. :)

A few of you asked what Exodus International is. Exodus International is posed as a Christian gay-reeducation program. It's an all-ages program -- If a parent thinks the kid is gay (regardless of whether or not the kid even is), they send them there. Regardless of my beliefs on homosexuality, this program does more harm than good. They're sloppy, they're irresponsible in their "therapy," they degrade their charges, and they do it under the guise of Christianity and therapy. When they get out, they're far more screwed up than when they go in. The men and women have increased self-loathing and not-so-oddly an increase in suicidal thoughts. It takes a lot of therapy to undo the horrors wrought upon these people and in addition a lot of them hate Christianity afterwards. Is it any wonder?

Miers may be a lovely person that I'd enjoy going bowling with, but belonging to an organization like that (much less serving on their board) leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Sometimes there's situations not worth compromising on. I'm not saying y'all should agree with my opinion, but heck, it's my journal and I rarely get wound up re: politics so there we go.

And in other news, 8 days until Redding. D-day draws near. Oh yeah, and it looks like Spencer will be staying in his apartment as a friend from school is moving in with him. Phew! No hassles!
