Yoshida Brothers

Scouring the net regularly these past few days, and today, this is what I stumbled upon through this blog. I love it when you fuse traditional music or traditional instruments with modern. It's one of the reasons why I'm so addicted to Chitose Hajime's songs.

This duo are the Yoshida Brothers. They've been trained in Tsugaru Shamisen since they were five. As usual, my ear for musical genre is utter fail, but I think there's a bit of an upbeat jazz to this particular piece. (they played it in a jazz club, so I don't think I'm too far off). Ibuki, their debut album, which they released back in 1999 sold over a hundrad thousand copies.

Have a listen. =)
