First of all, thanks everyone for the wishes. ^^ It totally made my day. ♥♥♥~ Will post about the day on a later date. XP
Last Saturday, I took part in the Klavier Solo Konzert, which was held in IMU, and though my performance was certainly not flawless, I am still quite proud of myself. ^^ This is because a) I did not pull out despite having second thoughts right up to the end, and b) though I made (lots of) mistakes, I didn't break down, (and can therefore hope that if the listeners had been living under a rock, and has never heard classical music before, they might not notice them). Yeay me~ That's like, the first time I've ever played before a live audience, except maybe way back in primary school when
Li Yen and I took turns playing on the keyboard during the prize giving ceremony.
There were 8 pianists performing that day, and two guest performers.
I played Chopin's Nocturne Op.62 no.2 and Liebestraum No.3 by Franz Liszt. All the other performers played well, but I especially liked Shin Ying's rendition of Debussy'sPrelude No.5 Book 2:'Bruyeres' and Rudy Goh playing Liszts Tarantella Venezia e Napoli: No. 3 (I wonder if I can download that song). One of the guest performers were Mr Azlan Ahmad Sharabi (of Asiabeat) and his jazz improvisation was amazing. I feel inspired to learn more pieces. >.< Special thanks to
Li Yen for coming to support and record my performance for me. ^^/
After the concert, I hung out with
Li Yen and
Pei Min at
Li Yen's place, and we devoured what at the time had felt like an entire basket of oranges, but now thinking back, couldn't have been more than 10. I love spending time with my loves.
(Not from the same day, but it's a rather nice picture of us. ^^)
Oh, and on an unrelated note, I was window shopping at Subang Parade yesterday, and I found this at MPH.
You know, I used to dislike her drawing style. I thought it was too boxy and lacked softness, and as a result her female characters looked too masculine/not very cute. Either something in her style has changed, or my perspective has changed but now I love her art. The lines I used to think were to hard and angular now looks solid, and when combined with the composition of the picture, still flows. I think, what I like about her art is the opposite of what I like about ----'s art. While his work looks like watercolours on water: soft, fluid and incorporeal, hers is strong and vibrant. More local talents need to produce art books so that I can gobble them up. I'll be getting that book the next time I see it. ^^
Also, this hot spell is Killing ME! Agh.
