i didn't do anything for st. patrick's day. there's a lot of reasons why, but it mostly stems from my religious beliefs. i was going to go to a chapel that night after work, but i didn't want to be out driving that day, with all the drunk drivers out. also, anytime i go to that chapel, which is open all the time, no matter what, which i why i go there, it's at night, and i get scared being there by myself at night.

ANYWAYS, so you guys know:

the story of saint patrick starts in wales in 385 AD. patrick was born with the name maewyn, and until he was 16, he considered himself a pagan. at the age of 16, he was sold into slavery and while enslaved developed christian beliefs. he escaped after 6 years and went to gaul to study the monestary under st. germain. patrick is the christian name he adopted. patrick found his calling to be to convert the pagans to christianity. he wanted to return to ireland to carry out his mission, however saint palladius was the one appointed to ireland. two years later, when palladius was transferred to scotland, patrick went to ireland, and was very good at converting people to christianity. the celtic druids were pissed, and patrick was arrested several times, each time escaping. he set up many monestaries, churches, and schools to aid him in the conversion of the irish nation. his mission carried on for 30 years until his death on march 17th, 461 AD.

um... i need to get to bed. i have a meeting in the morning. my promotion's awesome, but now i have to get up for meetings. BLAH. oh well, i'm sure it'll be worth it.
