Author’s Notes: This was written for the Hogsmeade contest with this prompt: Write a drabble about a student/group of students trying to get into their common room (for example, Gryffindors speaking to the Fat Lady, a Ravenclaw arguing with the doorknob). Pretty much anything goes, so be creative!
"There are two fathers, and two sons. How many people are there?"
The young Roger Davies stared at the doorknob. "Four," he answered, turning the knob. It didn't budge.
"That is incorrect."
"Three," a voice answered behind him, and he turned to see an older male-fifth year maybe-striding towards the tower. The doorknob twisted open in Roger's grasp. It hit him then, the sense of it, and he scowled at the doorknob.
"Well, it could have been four, you know."
The fifth year grinned down at him and ruffled his hair. "Don't worry, kid. You'll get it eventually."
