All Adam really tries to do is to be someone's hero.
He wants someone to prove to him that he's worthwhile.
He needs validation in the form of evenly balanced friendships.
Hilary doesn't need anyone, I am convinced.
She wants to fill up her time with escapades and silly things.
But she also is going to live a enviable life.
One full of meaning and purpose and cupcakes.
And she will know everyone worth knowing.
Paige.
She is real.
And afraid.
And she tries so, so hard.
And most of the time she succeeds.
And most of the time, she deserves much better.
Me?
I am mostly invisible and awkward and pretty.
And when I am not those things,
I am lethargic and monotonous without knowing it
and I am dirty, pale glass
and sometimes I am words picked randomly out of the thesaurus.
I am all the things I'd like to be
[sea glass, condensation, paint, ink,
leaves, trees, pencil shavings, and random
pieces of scrap paper.]
But none of them are ever in the right order.
