As I did last year, I will make a list of things I'm thankful for but first a little story to begin.
Last night I was sitting with my leg on the bench that is in front of my computer chair. My leg fell asleep which has been known to happen. What has not been known to happen is me not noticing it. So I didn't, got up in a hurry for some reason, made it to my doorway, my leg gave out on me and I fell right on the damn floor. So there is sort of my gift to you fine people. No better gift than one that will bring laughter from stupidity, I've always said that.....Anyway, let's get on to what I'm thankful for, shall we?
1. My friends: Yes my peeps, you all make life very interesting. What would I do without you? My eternal gratitude.
2. Football: Not only am I very happy when it's on every Sunday and Monday, but especially on Thanksgiving. How else would I make it through a day with the family? The first game kinda sucks since it's the always suck ass Lions facing the Falcons, but at least I get to watch the electrifying Mike Vick. The second game has the Cowboys hopefully taking the Broncos out to the woodshed. Not only are the Cowboys my second favorite team but the Broncos are one of my most hated rivals.
3. My family: As much as they will lead to my eventual commitment to an asylum somewhere, some of them are actually helpful. I'm ready for the white padded room and the awesome jacket that will prevent my arms from moving.
4. Radio: With the exception of a few shows, it's beginning to take precedent over television. I love listening to Jim Rome, Tony Bruno, Chris Myers, and Brian Cox talk candidly about sports all day.
5. The great state of West Virginia: Certain kind of pride that comes from being a native West Virginian. As I listen to Louisiana 1927 by Randy Newman, it makes me realize how lucky we are to live in a place where the likelihood of a natural disaster is minimal. God bless the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
