Nairaith:The Beginning:Part Three

Dec 13, 2003 13:43

He looked out to the stars. The last night at Steel-Forge. He looked around, mainly to see if anyone was near him, then reached into a pocket and took out a couple pieces of paper. One had written on it the note that had come from many distant lands away.

"Please, Defenders of the land of Steel, Send us a few warriors, we require assistance, and we need it soon, or the lands of the Human may fall to the Elves"

Well, if that wasn't a way to get Dwarven reinforcement, then you were speaking Aquan to a Fire Elemental. The other piece of paper had a number written on it. 350G. He shook his head. People usually didn't get this kind of money unless they adventured. But, there it was, 350G to buy whatever may help him upon his quest to the Human lands.

"I thought you'd be out 'ere" Nairaith jumped, putting the papers back into his pocket and turning around to see his stalwart father standing before him. "Admirin' yer Gold eh? Well, dun let'tit go to yer 'ead my kin. Come, let's go ta the Forge." Jrel'nor Iron-Axe was quite the imposing figure, and yet he stood almost 3 inches smaller than the average dwarf. Completely bald, and one eye blinded, Jrel'nor had seen much in his day. His eye had been put out by an Orc, after the two had come to blows during the War of 9. (That being The War of 9 Years, to those of you who've forgotten) Anyway, he and Nairaith turned and began to walk down the halls of the Axes. Straight to the great forge itself. (What, you thought it'd be named Steel-Forge and not even have a Forge underneath it? Yish!) Nairaith smiled, smelling the heat, and listening to the chirps of the Baby Red Dragons, flying about in the chasm.

"'ve got somethin' tha' you may jus' want ta take with ya" And Jrel'nor walked over to the forge and picked up off of it an Axe. But, not just any axe, this'd be the Ancestral Axe of the Axe Family. It had been Jrel'nor's since his father had given it to him, and so forth. Now, it was Nairaith's turn.

"Take this lad, and be sure ta use it." Jrel'nor smiled, and returned over to the forge. The night had just begun, and there were weapons to be made. A tear crept its way out of Nairaith's eye and slid down his cheek. With much adoration for his father, he turned and began his ascent to the top of the Mountain. Tonight the Ancient horns would be blown to answer the call of the Humans. Tonight, the Dwarves would join this war.
