i'm looking through you; you're not the same.

The medical update is this: I've had a bunch of tests that have mostly turned out normal. There may be a slight problem with my heart. I don't know yet. But I'm not going to die just yet.

However, I do have some lovely bruises from attempting to get an IV into my arm for the MRI. I hate MRIs. I'm not claustrophobic, but when you're shoved into a giant plastic box for 45 minutes you just get that way. It's sort of like being buried alive. Which I am afraid of. So there.

I bought a bunch of pseudo-intellectual books the other day, in a conscious decision to read smarter books so I'll be smarter and get good grades and get into a good college. What I've already read is crossed out.

-Election by Tom Perrotta
-Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs by Chuck Klosterman
-The Crying of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon (currently reading)
-No One Belongs Here More Than You, a collection of short stories by Miranda July (currently reading)
-On the Road by Jack Kerouac
-Emma by Jane Austen

Hmm. Well, I loved Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs. A lot. Crying of Lot 49 is good, if a little confusing. The Miranda July stories are excellent. Election, as expected, was also excellent (I recently read Little Children, also by Tom Perrotta, and am obsessed with it, and the movie of Election with Matthew Broderick and Reese Witherspoon was hilarious). Emma I bought because I like pain. So.

WEEKLY MUSIC OBSESSIONS: Wilco, Lily Allen, anything The Beatles have ever touched ever (but even the Love CD, which they didn't touch but which is genius anyway.
