I suppose all I can ask is who the hell banned gay marriage in California? It's California! The home of libertarian values, or so I thought. Now in between writing a letter to my own congressman about the cuts in health care for people with physical disabilities and writing a letter to Arnold Schwarzenegger about how many conservative ass holes live in his State, I will have my hands full. What the hell is going on? Are there that many conservative Muslims and Christians in this country, ruining it for the rest of us who believe in secular values and thinking that God belongs in your home and not in public policy. That is just ridiculous. Now any woman I go to commit to, I can't say "baby, we're going to California" because unless the state overturns this bull crap. We'll have to stay in New England to get married, and I've been to Massachusetts and Vermont and I like those areas, but the point is is that anyone in an alternative relationship should be able to get married wherever they please. It's ridiculous because there are some rather conservative countries in Europe that have many restrictions that the US doesn't enforce, but they still allow civil unions and registered partnerships.
I don't even understand the religious angle to this. Christianity is so watered down that it surprises me that it holds any weight, with regard to this debate. Other religions are steeped in equally archaic traditions, which is no excuse. Many areas of the Middle East and Africa need to be secularized, and education needs to improve. But it also needs to be amended here apparently, because this country is on the way to having as many extreme issues as any religiously centered group of people. And this is so embarrassing for any average American citizen who doesn't believe that Jesus rules of the country because you wouldn't think such reactionism would happen here. Not in the country that I remember, back in the 80s and 90s when they hung up on the White House at the news rooms around the country. How sad that we are so backward and pathetic now.
That's just absurd, and on top of all that shit I'm still sick as fuck with this terrible cold. And I've been so lazy about keeping in touch with people and answering messages; I'm really hoping my friends will forgive me. The freaking Patriots play tomorrow against Buffalo. That's just great.
