01 | two profiles + best movie : Inglorious Basterds (2009),
which I saw this year and loved (it's my first Tarentino movie)! This icon was loosely inspired by this gorgeous icon by wildpages, though I think I failed for the most part >o<. The text "Blood & Honor" is taken from X-Men:First Class, which also starred Michael Fassbender.

04 | simple portrait + i'd go gay for : Blair Waldorf
LEIGHTON MEESTER'S FACE. I used a cap from Season 1 (the pilot, actually) because A) I don't watch Gossip Girl (I've seen a few episodes here and there), and B) Blair's styling was the best in Season 1.
05 | playful dimension + character that annoyed you : Henry Mills (the Second)
You can't really tell, but his head is sticking out of an apple :333 Also, I find a lot of his actions really rash and stupid - he doesn't think a lot of it through - but then I have to remind myself that he's only 10 and childish behavior is expected. There are worse characters on OUAT, I know, but they all have depth, and Henry...just doesn't.
06 | together + memorable screencap : Mary Margaret & David Nolan aka, Snow White and Prince Charming!
This isn't the most memorable cap of these two, but I found this one really sweet and meaningful!
07 | fire + overexposed : Merlin
I don't know what I was thinking, but I took dark caps to make an overexposed icon. Yup. I started watching Merlin last month during my winter break and I love it so much! I finished the first season in 3 days ;A;
08 | haunted + make an icon for someone : Sherlock for my friend Nancy.
It's difficult to tell, but the larger cap is immediately from the scene after the thing with the old lady in episode 1x03, "The Great Game" - one of the few times when we see bits of Sherlock's humanity in the first season, which is why I used it for the theme of "haunted". Oh, and I got my irl friend Nancy into Sherlock a few months ago, so this is for her! :D
09 | pain + favorite quote : Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - The Prince's Tale
There are a bunch of quotes that I loved this year ("As I recall, he has a particular proclivity for pyrotechnics.", for one), but I was rushing by the time this icon was made (AND MY LAPTOP DIED WHEN I WAS MAKING IT D:), so I used the quote "Always [, said Snape."] , which pretty much condenses Snape's (eventual) self-less love for Lily and his redemption in the series into a single word. The emotion on Snape's face in the larger cap is really powerful (for such a subtle expression) when he casts the patronus for Dumbledore (it's in the top right corner btw!) AND ALL THE AWARDS FOR ALAN RICKMAN, YES?
10 | home + something you look forward to in 2012 : Downton Abbey, Season 3 (September 2012)
You guys have no idea how excited it was when they said the year was now 1920 and Mary planned to go to New York in the Christmas Special. THE ROARING '20S, YOU GUYS, THE ROARING '20S!!!!! Nevermind what happened at the end of the Special, lol.
11-15 | My top 5 characters are Catelyn Stark (;__;), Hermione Granger (MY SPIRIT ANIMAL), Sansa Stark (QUEEN OF LOVE AND BEAUTY), Severus Snape (;__;), and Harry Potter (here by default BECAUSE HE CHANGED MY LIFE). The Hermione and Sansa icons were really discernible shades of yellow/orange, so I just put the Hermione one in the spot for orange because it was deeper in color (and I asked a friend, lol).

16 | Lord Varys, Master of Whispers
How did a slave boy from Lys make his way into the one of the most powerful positions in the Seven Kingdoms and remain there through the chaotic tenures of three kings? He doesn't seem to have any personal attachments in the Game, as Littlefinger does, and his role in ADWD was absolutely chilling. As fascinated as I am by Littlefinger, I'm on Team Varys, tbh.
17 | Dolores Umbridge, Senior Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic and High Inquisitor of Hogwarts
Perhaps one of the most hated characters in the Harry Potter fandom, Dolores Umbridge was one of the few semi-important characters who is still without a publicly released backstory! HOW DID SHE BECOME SUCH A POWER-HUNGRY WITCH? HOW DID SHE GET TO HER POSITION AT THE MINISTRY? HOW MANY SHADES OF PINK ARE IN HER CLOSET?! I want to know Jo, and hopefully I'll get some answers by the time Pottermore begins going into Order of the Phoenix territory. ^^~
18 | Nolan Ross, Founder and CEO of Nolcorp, worth 19.8 billion, better than you, etc.
So out of this entire group, Nolan is the only one who isn't really a bad guy - he's just a highly arrogant genius billionaire who just wants to fit in and help Emily seek her revenge. So how did he become "Wired Magazine's Man of the Decade" and #6 on "Forbes' Youngest Billionaires"? I WANT TO KNOW. GIMME MORE ON HIS BACKSTORY, PRZ.
19 | Jim Moriarty, Consulting Criminal
I really want a backstory for all reincarnations of James Moriarty tbh, though I don't know if one was given for the original Conan Doyle character because I've only read A Scandal in Bohemia! But I really would like to know more about 'ol Jim here because he's so crazy and bipolar AND GIGGLY and so so interesting.
20 | Lord Petyr Baelish, called Littlefinger, Master of Coin, Troll of Westeros, In Love With Someone's Mother (now isn't that familiar?) , etc.
So I know we already got a lot of Littlefinger's backstory via Catelyn, and we begin to learn a lot of his motives in the later ASOIAF books, but I really want to know what goes on inside that clever mind of his! I admit, I was at first fascinated with Petyr due to all the Snape vibes I was getting from him, but their similarities really end after their cleverness and love for someone's redheaded mother. For example, I still don't understand why he completely screwed the Starks over when he supposedly loved Catelyn - WHY GRRM, TELL ME WHY!
Also, the text in this icon was taken from the last line of his little monologue in episode 7 of the tv series - "I'm not going to fight them; I'm going to fuck them." - which was the best part of that entire scene tbh. And, I didn't intend for the U to perfectly align with his nose - now he looks like Bane from the Dark Knight Rises OH THE IRONY!.
tl;dr I have a lot of feelings about fictional characters. Welp. I hope this amused some of you, at least. I'm tired :c
