Science in God.

I've been trying to figure out not, WHETHER, I believe in God, but WHY.
I think I've made some progress:
While I know that faith is not something that needs to be validated through logical reasoning, I would be more confident in my faith if I were able to do so.
I think that God, or rather, some higher spiritual power does exist. My belief is based upon the things God does WITH people, rather than FOR people.

Basically, I feel most confident in my belief in God when I think about how animals and people are linked so tightly and intricately together that the extinction of one organism, could cause the extinction or harm of all those above and below it.

I think about God dictating the presence of viruses that sweep across densley populated areas.
How is it that these viral epidemics arise and have devastating affects so frequently within the nations that suffer from overpopulation? Upon closer analysis one could argue that the reason this happens is because pathogens mutate and evolve more quickly with each opportunity to pass from host to host and therefore, they are able to become more dangerous and frequent within heavily populated countries.

But still, could evolution have just come with the package or is really apart of some larger scheme? Why are all organisms on earth able to adapt and evolve? It seems like a skill that we don't deserve to have just randomly acquired.

When I think of God, I don't think of someone parting the clouds to peer down at us. I think of energy. A force that gave us the capability to evolve as a means to protect ourselves as well as to provide us with personal interest towards preserving our environment and its fellow inhabitants. The hazards of over-consumption, pollution, and terrorism all seem to be God's way of punishing us for taking the gift of evolution for granted.
